Frequently asked questions

Can I load my new season pass on my RAL card? Is my RAL profile linked to Pure Tūroa?

No.  You will need to purchase a new card to load your Tūroa season pass.  You will be able to enter your details at the time of purchase which will create your new pure Tūroa profile.  We will send out detail of how to access it after 15th May. 


Whats new?

We know Tūroa inside out.  We have an experienced dedicated team whose main objective is to get you where you want to be, on the maunga!  Our operational teams will be on the clock earlier to make sure we do whatever possible to get the lifts turning on time.  Our Guest Service, Hospitality and Rental facilities will be open earlier & later to make sure you don't miss out on that end of the day refreshment or essential pre ski coffee.

Where is Tūroa HQ,the Ohakune town office?

The address is (Bottom Of Mountain Road,Ohakune) 194 Mangawhero Terrace, Ohakune 4625.  Here, you can purchase tickets, ask questions, return rentals and shop our amazing selection of merchandise and gifts.


This area is currently being set up and we hope tp open in June. 

How do the age brackets work?

  • For all season passes (excluding 75+), including the RAL Life Pass Holders pass ages are taken as of April 1, 2024.  75+ age is at time of purchase. 

  • For day lift passes, rental and Snow School products, ages are taken on the day of purchase.

  • For all season passes, multi season passes, day passes and other products Youth is 6 - 16.  Adult is 17+ and Senior is 65–74yrs of age.  Photo ID may be required.

  • 5 and under and 75 and over ski free of charge and require a validated pass to ride the lifts. Photographic ID will be required for 75+ at time of purchase.

  • Students are 17+yrs enrolled full time (minimum 32 weeks in a calendar year) with a New Zealand or Australian secondary or tertiary institution. Student ID or proof of full time status required.

Where can I pick up my new lift pass card?

Our Guest Serices area and new town shop are currently under construction.  Once these are completed you can use the click-and-collect machines at these locations.  We will update this when they are ready.

When you do collect, make sure to have your phone brightness turned up and then scan from under the screen.

Is there afterpay?

Yes!

What lifts will be running?

These lifts will all be operating as soon as conditions allow.

Is it compulsory to wear a helmet?

Under 13s are required to wear helmets in Snow school lessons, everyone else is advised to.  Helmets are available for rent or purchase on the mountain.

What can we do if we don't ski or snowboard?

We have Sledding & Sightseeing options as well as delicious cafe offerings. Sledding is based down in the alpine meadow and tickets are purchased from guest services. The price will include 1 hour of sledding, 1x sled, and access to the Magic carpet.

For sightseeing you can access the Parklane chair lift up to the Snowflake Cafe. While up there you will have access to a cafe, toilets, and snow play. The price is for a round trip.

What are the season pass benefits?

Season pass benefits apply to purchased passes only.  The full set of season pass benefits can be found at the bottom of our season passes page, hello ‘bring a buddy Wednesdays’. This will be updated with extra benefits over the next few months as we are working with local businesses to bring you a fresh set of awesome deals.

Who is the RAL Life Pass Holder offer for?

This offer is exclusively for current RAL Life Pass holders only and these details will be verified by our team.  It is on sale until May 15th.

My child can’t ski, can I still take them with me in a backpack?

For safety reasons, we don’t allow children to be carried in packs or sit on the front of Snowboards so you won’t be able to access any lifts like this.  We can take children from any age in a private lesson and also have sledding available which is fun for the whole family.


Do you rent clothing?

Yes, We offer, Jackets, Pants and Helmets. For hygienic reasons, we do not offer gloves. We do have gloves for sale at our retail store.

Do you offer ski and snowboard tuning?

Yes, our workshop is located in our rental building. You can purchase all our services for waxing and tuning on the mountain, and even get 25% off if you have a season pass.

Is the EV charging at Tūroa?

No, the closest is located at the New World car park.

Why Remove The Nga Wai Heke?

We love the Nga Wai Heke so this was a really tough decision of which we had to consider many factors.

  • PTL or any operator is required to reduce the footprint on the maunga in the coming years to meet DoC and iwi objectives.

  • A financial return on the running costs coupled with very limited opening days unfortunately doesn't stack up.

  • The cost of removal is estimated at $3M. This is a cost PTL would be required to fund in a few years time if we don’t agree to a DoC arrangement to remove it in the shorter term. Our view is that these funds would be better deployed elsewhere to improve customer experience.

  • Iwi feel very strongly that the physical footprint on the maunga should be reduced.

  • Tūroa also operates under tight electricity constraints and we have to factor this into all operations on a cost/benefit basis.
