Terms and Conditions

The projected operational period, or ‘season’, of Tūroa Ski Area is June- October 2025. All passes and products purchased expire on the closing date or before if the closing date changes. Operational dates are subject to weather and snow conditions, and no warranty is offered for late openings, early closures, or lift closures during the season. This includes the closure of specific lifts, number of lifts operating or to the operation of an area or facility on any operational day.
Pure Tūroa is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from the use of the Pass, including losses due to adverse conditions, routine maintenance, force majeure, or unforeseen circumstances. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amounts paid for goods or services related to the claim.
Products purchased(except three-year season passes) expire the year in which they are valid.Products cannot be transferred to the following year. Prices include GST and are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD), subject to change without notice. A card processing fee applies to credit card purchases. Pure Tūroa reserves the right to cancel orders with incorrect pricing or information, issuing refunds where applicable. Cash transactions are not accepted.
Activities in licensed premises must adhere to the scope of the licence. Bring Your Own (BYO) is not allowed at any of our hospitality venues. Picnic areas will be clearly marked. Consumption of BYO alcohol is prohibited in all areas.
Pure Tūroa makes no commitment to the availability of carparks, transport or access to the mountain at any time and reserves the right to offer preferential parking at any time.
All pass holders should respect the Tongariro National Park, adhering to a ‘pack in – pack out’ policy for litter.
- Lost and found is kept at the on mountain Guest Services office.
- Valuable items (phones, cameras, wallets, jewellery etc) are taken to Ohakune Police Station every Monday afternoon.
- All other items that are unclaimed for 14 days are donated to Ethical waste in Ohakune.
- In most circumstances, we can help organise shipping your item via courier at your own expense.
Refunds or credits are at the discretion of Pure Tūroa and subject to processing fees. All credits or refunds are final as of October 31 for the winter season in which the product was purchased.
- Pass holders use the resort at their own risk and must recognise the associated hazards. While Pure Tūroa will to the best of their ability try to identify and mitigate hazardous circumstances, the alpine environment is constantly changing and pass holders must recognise the associated risks of mountain use. Pass holders accept the risk of personal injury and property loss or damage that may result from use of this facility including but not limited to access road, car parks and base area, chair lifts, in-bounds terrain and out-of-bounds terrain.
- Passes are valid for the proposed season dates; extensions may incur additional charges.
- Season pass benefits are only valid for purchased season passes and may be updated at any time. Current benefits can be found under ‘season pass benefits’ on our website.
- Bring a buddy Wednesday. This season pass benefit is valid for purchased passes only.
- Season pass holder must be present at time of pass purchase.
- One free pass per pass holder per Wednesday, outside of school holidays.
- Day pass available at equal to the season pass holder age bracket or below
- 3 year Season Passes are valid 2024 - 2026 only, regardless of year of collection. Benefits will fall in line with those of the current season. Pass warranties are not available for 3 year Season Passes.
- Lift users must have a valid pass and carry it at all times, including while in a Snow School lesson or accompanying children. Any person who uses or attempts to use a lift (including the Alpine Meadow area) without a valid pass and without reasonable excuse will be required to pay for a day pass and may face prosecution and/or a trespass notice.
- Passes are non-transferable and can only be used by the named pass holder. If you lose or misplace your pass or it is stolen, please report this immediately to Guest Services on mountain, so it can be suspended/cancelled and a replacement can be re-issued. A lost or forgotten pass can be replaced for a $5 fee. Any passes which may have applicable upgrades need to be transacted at Guest Services.
- Day passes and rental equipment which have been activated cannot be reused on a different day or refunded due to lift closure during the operational day. Passes purchased for specific days or consecutive days can only be used within the specified time frames.
- Pure Tūroa reserves the right to review any passes being used by parties for commercial purposes.
- Day passes including sightseeing passes are validated on the day of use and unless specified are usable on any applicable day of the 2025 winter season. These products are non refundable.
- Consecutive day passes and ski area closure. If the mountain is closed on the second day of a 2-day consecutive pass, the difference in price between the used single-day pass price and the 2-day consecutive pass price will be credited to the pass holder's profile. For 5-day and 7-day consecutive passes, credits will only be issued if there is a price difference compared to the single-day pass price on any open days combined. For the purposes of this policy, the applicable single-day pass price shall be the price listed on the Pure Tūroa website for a single-day pass on the relevant date of closure or open day. This price shall be used for all calculations, and the calculation shall not be derived by dividing the consecutive day pass price by the number of days in the pass. Further, days on which the ski area is open shall be counted as a day used on your consecutive day pass, regardless of whether you ski or snowboard on that day or not.
- Fraudulent use of your pass or knowingly accessing lifts without a pass will result in confiscation of any pass involved and prosecution of all parties involved. Both parties may also be trespassed from Tūroa facilities for two years, and any trespass takes effect across all commercial ski areas in New Zealand (SAANZ affiliated members).
- All personal information must be accurate and will be handled according to our Privacy Policy. Photo identification may be required for pass warranty and updates.
- Pass Protection Warranty is available at time of pass purchase only (it cannot be added on at a later date). The warranty covers injury/illness/pregnancy preventing the user from skiing and snowboarding for the duration of the season. Proof (including a Doctor Certificate if applicable) is required to support all of the above and cases are assessed individually. Refund amount will be determined according to days used and when during the season the warranty is applied for. Refunds only extend to the value of the pass type purchased and do not cover any ancillary or other associated costs. The Pass Protection Warranty fee itself is non-refundable. All refunds will be made in New Zealand Dollars. If you paid by a credit card denominated in a foreign currency, the amount that you are refunded in your foreign currency may differ from what you were charged at the time of booking due to changes in the foreign exchange rates, non-refundable or additional bank or credit card charges, or other factors. Pure Tūroa will accept no liability for any loss that may be suffered due to these factors in relation to the amount refunded. There will be no refund applications considered after the 31st of October for the season the pass was purchased for, irrespective of pass use.
- Pass holders must conduct themselves responsibly, following signage, staff instructions and follow the snow user’s responsibility code. Misconduct may result in pass suspension or cancellation without refund and possible removal from the mountain ski area. Misconduct includes, but is not limited to, reckless or dangerous behaviour while participating in on-mountain actives, excessive speed within a slow or learning zone, disregard for closed areas, unsociable or abusive behaviour, being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, supply of incorrect information or any other breach of these Terms and Conditions. All users must adhere to road rules when driving on Ohakune Mountain road, with violations potentially leading to pass cancellation and legal action.
- Anti-social or abusive behaviour toward staff, whether in person or on online platforms, will not be tolerated.
- Only Tūroa rental sleds are permitted in the designated sledding area. Sledding on the Alpine Meadow outside of the designated area is not permitted.
- Age Definitions
- Season Passes: Ages are taken as of June 1, 2025, except for 75+ where age is taken at time of purchase.
- Day Passes and Rentals: Ages are determined on the purchase date.
- Infant 0-5 years; Youth: 6-16 years; Adult: 17+; Senior: 65-74 years. Photo ID may be required.
- Students are 17+yrs enrolled full time (minimum 32 weeks in a calendar year) with a New Zealand or Australian tertiary institution or in secondary school. Proof of current enrolment required.
- Children 5 and under and seniors 75+ ski free but require a validated pass for lift access.
- Due to NZ Civil Aviation laws and DOC regulations, drones are not permitted in the National Park. For commercial permissions, contact media@pureturoa.nz.
- Non-employees teaching lessons or accepting payment for lessons is prohibited. Violations may result in prosecution and a two-year trespass from all SAANZ-affiliated areas.
- Pass holders must not carry children in front or back packs while skiing, snowboarding or using lifts.
- Platinum Pass parking zones are designated for the exclusive use of the two named cardholders. One parking spot per day per platinum card, not per person.
- Fraudulent use of Platinum Passes may lead to the cancellation of both Platinum and season passes for all parties involved.
- Photo ID and a season pass are necessary for parking area access.
- Platinum pass holders must comply with all road closures, notifications, and staff instructions; failure to do so may result in pass termination without refund.
- Platinum Season Pass benefits mirror those of the standard season pass, with the added advantage of a 15% discount on private lessons for the named pass holders.
- 'Lessons' encompasses Private Lessons, Youth or Adult Group Lessons, Full & Half Day Coaching Lessons, School Packages, and Snow School Programmes.
- Bookings must be paid in full to be confirmed. A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required for refunds or rescheduling Private Lessons, Youth or Adult Group Lessons, Full & Half Day Coaching Lessons.
- A phone number that you will be contactable on during your visit is required at time of booking.
- Private Lesson, Youth or Adult Lessons or Full & Half Day Coaching Lessons cancelled between 2 and 24 hours' notice will incur a 50% cancellation fee. No refunds or the possibility to reschedule will be offered for cancellations made less than 2 hours before the lesson begins or in the case of a "no show."
- Helmets are mandatory for all participants in Snow School Programmes, and for participants aged 12 and under in Group or Private Lessons or Full & Half Day Coaching Lessons.
- Maximum group sizes are subject to change based on demand and instructor availability. Unless specified otherwise, Snow School products do not include Lift Passes or rental equipment.
- An adaptive discount is available only with the presentation of a valid SSNZ Membership.
- Private lesson prices are for a maximum of 2 students, extra students of the same ability can be added for a charge, to a maximum of 5 participants.
- Private lessons are available for any age, as long as the participant is able to engage in skiing or snowboarding. If a child is too young to participate, the lesson may be cut short. No refunds will be issued in this instance.
- Participants must adhere to age brackets, as lessons will be strictly enforced according to age. No refunds will be given if youths cannot participate in an incorrectly assigned lesson, or if the lesson level has been entered incorrectly and no suitable alternative is available.
- Full-day group lessons and lesson packages are dated and can be changed within 24 hours of the date of booking if capacity allows.
- All components of lesson packages must be used on the same day, and packages can be redeemed on any day. If a day is closed, the package date can be altered provided the pass has not been activated. Once a Group Lesson package has been validated for theday, it cannot be transferred to another day.
- In cases where there is only one participant in an Adult Group Lesson, the lesson will be converted to a 1-hour Private Lesson.
- Refund requests for Programmes will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, typically on a pro-rata basis, and will only be granted in instances of participant injury that prevents further participation. No refunds will be issued for missed days or one-off sick days.
- Closed day sessions are available in Ohakune for Tūroa Academy, Rippers, and Mountain Explorers, with no refunds or discounts for non-participation.
- Minimum participant numbers apply for all Programmes, in the case these are not met, you will be contacted. We endeavour to run all Programmes at all times, however if fewer than the required participants are enrolled for a Programme, the Programme may be modified or cancelled, and a refund given.
- Lunch is included for Academy Programme participants during on-mountain sessions but not for closed day sessions.
- Participants purchasing a Programme must meet the required skiing or riding ability of the Programme/group, failing this, a transfer to another appropriate Programme may be possible. Any price adjustments will be made based on the original purchase prices. If no suitable group is available, a pro-rata refund will be issued for days used.
- Any relevant medical history must be disclosed to Snow School prior toregistration and payment.
- You assume full responsibility for the use of all rental equipment and is accountable for its care and security throughout the rental period.
- All rental equipment must be returned before the end of the agreed rental period.
- In the event the rental equipment is not returned after the rental period has expired, you acknowledge that you will be charged the full daily rental rate for each additional day the equipment remains unreturned.
- Costs related to the repair or complete replacement of rental equipment that is damaged beyond normal wear and tear may apply.
- You authorise any charges related to overdue, damaged, or unreturned rental equipment, to be applied to the credit card on file associated with your account.
- A fee of $15 will be charged for the replacement of a lost locker key.
- All multi day rental products must be used on consecutive days starting from the specified first day.
- All rental equipment is assigned to the specific rental guest and is non-transferable. You agree that the equipment will only be used by the individual whose name appears on the rental form.
- Refunds for rental equipment are solely at the discretion of Pure Tūroa.
- You acknowledge that participating in snow sports (including skiing and snowboarding) involves inherent risks. They agree that they are aware of these risks and the potential for injury, accidents, damage, or loss related to the use of the rental equipment or resulting from a fault or defect in the equipment hired and that he/she freely assumes and accepts all risk of personal accident, injury, damage or loss which may result directly or indirectly from hire, fault or defect in the equipment and he/she hereby indemnifies Pure Tūroa, its servants and agents accordingly.
- All rental staff at Tūroa are trained and authorised to make adjustments and set up ski and snowboard equipment, Pure Tūroa accepts no responsibility for any adjustments made to rental equipment by guests.
- You accept that the ski-boot binding system will not always release and under all circumstances as is not a guarantee of protection from injury. You accept that the snowboard boot-binding system will not release at all and is, therefore, no guarantee for their safety.
- The ‘initial unpaid balance’ is the amount you will owe when you request to pay for your selected product from Pure Tūroa using the Instalment Payment Plan.The initial unpaid balance is the figure reflecting the total amount payable as disclosed during the transaction process.
- If the initial payment is not paid you are NOT eligible for the Instalment Payment Plan. The initial unpaid balance is also referred to as the instalment balance due.
- At any stage of the Instalment Payment Plan, you have the ability to pay the total outstanding balance due (including full prepayment). Please note that a credit card surcharge of 2.75% will apply to your instalment payments or any full prepayment of your total outstanding balance.
- You are required to make each payment of the amount specified and by the time specified. Payment plans are not interchangeable.

- By selecting to make payment on the Instalment Payment Plan, you agree to Pure Tūroa Limited automatically charging your credit card as supplied, with the % amount of the product purchased as specified on the payment dates listed above.
- If your payment is unsuccessful, we will attempt to reprocess it the following business day. If any instalment payment is not made, e.g. due to the credit card payment being declined or reversed, Pure Tūroa reserves the right to charge a default administration fee of $40 per card transaction.
- Where Pure Tūroa have not been able to charge an instalment to your nominated credit or debit card in accordance with the agreed payment dates (whether because of insufficient funds or otherwise), Pure Tūroa will notify you by email that you are required to login to your account and update your credit card details. We will then attempt to re-charge your instalment. If payment fails again, you will again be notified by email. Re-attempts will be processed for two days. If after two days your instalment is still not successful, your pass will be cancelled, and any deposits and successful instalments will be refunded.
- You can update your credit card details online, but should you wish to do so over the phone ((+64) 06 888 6004) it must be at least 5 business days before the next instalment date.
- Pure Tūroa is not responsible for your failure to make payment on the due date for any reason.
- Season Pass products will not be refundable (monetary or credit) under any circumstances unless a Pass Protection Warranty has been purchased. A Pass Protection Warranty is your injury/medical cover and provides for a full or partial refund of the season pass where an injury, medical condition or pregnancy precludes season pass use throughout the entire season. - Season Pass products will not be validated or issued until full payment of all instalments has been received.
- Interest is not charged on Instalment Payment Plans.
