Girls Who Shred returns to Tūroa on Saturday 8th August 2026.
This free girls-only community ride day is designed for female skiers and snowboarders who want to build confidence in the terrain park, learn new skills and enjoy a fun day riding with like-minded people.
Whether you've never hit a feature before or you're already comfortable in the park, our crew will help you progress at your own pace in a supportive and welcoming environment.
The day includes free park coaching sessions, opportunities to meet other riders, and plenty of time to ride one of New Zealand's most unique alpine playgrounds.
Tūroa is famous for its natural terrain and freeride culture, making it the perfect place to start your park journey or take your riding to the next level.
Event time
1:00pm to 3:30pm
Schedule
12:30-12:45m - Meet at the top of the Alpine Meadow* Terrain Park, check in and sign waivers. *Park location TBC, may be Wintergarden Park depending on conditions/set up.
12:45-1:00pm - Welcome and event/park safety briefing.
1:00pm - 3:00pm - Coach session begins.
3:00pm - 3:15pm - Coaching concludes, coaches gather to organize prizes.
3:15pm - 3:30pm - Prizes at the top of Alpine Meadow Terrain Park (Redbull warm up area if weather is poor).
3:30pm - Event concludes.
Entry requirements
- Entry is free to attend the event but a valid season or day lift pass is required.
- Helmets are mandatory and must be worn during the event.
- Must be able to comfortably link turns and control speed on intermediate terrain.
- First time/beginner park skiers/snowboarders welcomed (event is focused on getting more girls into the terrain parks).
- Experienced park skiers/riders welcomed, great opportunity to meet other girls to shred with and expand their bag of tricks (ex, try a trick switch!)
