Where is Tūroa?
Centrally located in New Zealand's North Island, Tūroa Ski Area is located on the southwestern side of Mount Ruapehu. Ohakune is the gateway to Tūroa, a charming mountain village with plenty of cafés, restaurants, and accommodation options.
Estimated drive times to Tūroa Ski Area:
- Ohakune: 25 mins
- Waimarino (National Park): 50 mins
- Tūrangi: 80 mins
- Whanganui: 1 hour 45 mins
- Taupō: 2 hours
- Hawkes Bay: 2 hours 45 mins
- Wellington: 4 hours
- Tauranga: 4 hours
- Auckland: 5 hours

Value package
Let us take care of everything! This all-inclusive package covers rental equipment (skis, boots & poles OR a snowboard & boots plus a helmet), an all-mountain lift pass and a lesson. Lesson start times are 9.00am, 10.30am or 12pm.

Explorer package
For experienced students who are ready to hit the slopes without a lesson. This package includes rental equipment and a lift pass, perfect for those who just need to get out there at a great price.

Snow experience options
Ideal for giving kids their first taste of the maunga, especially those aged four to seven. Sledding can be booked per person at $15 or schools can reserve the whole lane for up to 20 to 30 students per hour for $375 (40 students = 2 hours). Complete the day with sightseeing at $10 (ages 10+) or kids’ cabin rental for $99 per day(all ages).

Add on's
Book our Kids Cabin for private use on your trip day, the Kids Cabin has a small kitchenette, large lunch area, indoor space to play and a private bathroom. It’s warm, comfortable, and has a fenced play area outside. Weatherproof pants, jackets and snowboots for snow play and sledding are also available for rent from $15 per item.

When you're ready to book, start by filling out our enquiry form with some basic details. After we confirm your trip date, you'll receive an email with a detailed booking form. Once you complete that form, we'll confirm the total price and finalise your booking.
For the initial enquiry, you'll need to provide the following information:
School Name
Key contact person for the school
Preferred visit date
Total number of students for the trip
Overall number of students participating in skiing, snowboarding, sledding, or sightseeing
Preferred lesson time (9:00 am, 10:30 am, or 12:00 pm)
Preferred sledding time (from 10:00 am)
Kids Cabin booking: Yes/No
For the booking details form, you'll need to provide the following information:
Transport type
Estimated time of arrival and departure from Tūroa
Details for each student and accompanying adult, such as:
Name
Age
Discipline (ski/snowboard)
Ability level
Rental requirements (gear and clothing)
Pass type (if adults require Meadow-only access and will not ski or snowboard)
This information is used to provide you with an invoice for the trip and organise group lessons and rental equipment for your group before you arrive. If we are unable to facilitate your requested date/time we’ll contact you with some alternatives.
Key Tip: If you’re unsure of a child’s skill level always opt for the lower ability level, they’ll still be able to learn and have fun, without being out of their comfort zone.
We aim to provide a welcoming environment for everyone. If you need adaptive assistance, please let us know at least 14 days before your trip.
Private adaptive lessons are available at a lower rate than regular private lessons.
These lessons do not include lift passes or equipment rental, which can be booked separately.
Sit-ski and adaptive lessons are based on availability and cannot be guaranteed on your booked date. For sit-ski lessons, we need details such as height, weight, and experience level.
If you need disabled parking, please tell us at least one week in advance so we can reserve it for you.
Level 1
Students have never skied or snowboarded before. Students have tried skiing or snowboarding before but cannot stop.
Level 2
Students have skied or snowboarded once or twice before, can come to a stop and turn.
Level 3
Students are confident linking turns on all green runs and working on further skills to progress to blue runs.
Level 4
Students are confident linking turns on all blue runs and working on further skills to progress to black runs. Students may try skills in the terrain park.
Level 5
Students are confident linking turns on all black runs and working to further skills to progress to more challenging snow conditions and terrain. Students may try skills in the terrain park.
All payments must be received no later than 7 days in advance. For changes/refund information, please see our full terms and conditions under ‘links for trip organisers’.
For bookings made within 7 days of the date of visit,full payment must be made at the time of booking.
To ensure your trip is as smooth as possible, 10 days prior to your visit you may find it useful to double-check the details of the booking and ensure they are still correct.

Having this information earlier will mean we can finalise payment for your group much easier and avoid unnecessary charges being invoiced for.
We have a large rental fleet and extra staff on hand to help large groups in the mornings. While we try to meet special requests, stock may limit what we can provide.
Your school will have a big plastic bin with your name on it for students’ shoes. Please only put shoes in this bin.
Helmets are included with every rental, but if students have their own, we recommend they bring and wear theirs.
Here are some tips for rentals:
Make sure your snowboard boots are done up tightly.
Bring only one pair of good socks.
Don't tuck your pants into your boots; leave them outside the boots.
Skiers: Keep one boot off so our team can use the other to set up your skis.
